Impulsivity

Children and adolescents with high impulsivity have difficulties thinking before acting. It is the immediate impression or impulse that determines the act. One simply does what first comes to mind. This lacking ability to self-regulate is expressed in difficulties of waiting for one's turn, interrupting others during conversation and "throwing out answers" before hearing the entire question. This impulsivity often leads to problems with peers since it is perceived as disturbing when they interrupt or interfere with other people's games or conversations.

Impulsive children often have a low threshold for frustration which involves difficulty in controlling emotions.
